UCF Posts Six Victories at UCF Quad Tournament

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF started the fall season on Friday by taking five of six singles matches vs. Mercer at the UCF Quad Tournament. The Knights picked up one doubles victory against North Florida on a beautiful afternoon at the UCF Tennis Complex.

The doubles tandem of senior Sofia Baptista and freshman Diana Dehterevich posted a 6-2 triumph over the Ospreys. UNF did take the other two matches in the hidden-dual format.

Senior Caroline Eberhart started the Knights off by cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1. A 6-4, 7-5 sweep registered by classmate Clare Mendell at No. 5.

Strong first-impressions were made by Dehterevich at No. 3 with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph, while sophomore transfer from Western Kentucky Emilia Granstrom took the first set 6-2 and won a second-set tiebreaker 7-4 to secure her match.

Sophomore Monica Matias fought in the first set to notch a 7-5 win before sweeping the second set, 6-0..

The Knights are back on the courts on Saturday at 10 a.m. with doubles against Tulane before facing North Florida in singles play. The UCF Quad Tournament concludes on Sunday at 9 a.m.
