ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- First win of 2015. Check.
The No. 17 UCF women's soccer team's attack was relentless in its 3-0 win over Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon. The Knights (1-1-0) dominated the match with 23 shots to the Dolphins' three -- none of which were on frame, making the shutout extra sweet.
After missing the 2014 season due to an ACL injury, sophomore midfielder Kayla Adamek was back to form with two of the Knights' three goals.
With the heat index reaching close to 100 degrees and a quick turnaround from Friday's Top 20 matchup with Florida, the Knights turned to their bench to keep legs fresh. Twenty players clocked minutes on Sunday afternoon.
"The thing I'm most proud about would be our depth," UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "Great game by everybody. It was a team win today for sure."
The match was called as a complete game in the 76th minute due to persistent lightning in the area.
Welcome Back, Adamek
? Redshirt sophomore Kayla Adamek notched the second multi-goal game of her career with her goals in the 41st and 67th minutes.
? In the first half, redshirt senior Madison Barney -- who missed the last two years with an ACL injury -- slipped a through ball to her teammate. Adamek rushed to the top of the box and connected with the back of the net.
? Defender Julia Moore found Adamek again in the second half with her cross to the far, left post, where Adamek easily hooked it in past keeper Brittany Hundley.
? "We call her mighty mouse. She just gets the job done and she has a really, really good work rate," UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "She has an amazing engine, great leader for this team. It's nice for her to get some points on the board for us after all her hard work."
Spivey Strikes First
? Senior Ashley Spivey wasted no time in coming through with UCF's first goal of the year.
? Spivey was set up with a free kick just before the fifth minute and rebounded her own blocked attempt at the top of the key.
? The midfielder's strike was her fifth career game-winner for the Knights.
? Spivey made Jacksonville's two keepers work on Sunday as four of her five shot attempts were on goal.
