ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Mark McGuigan, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at UCF, has been named the tennis coach at Washington High School in Pensacola. He will also be teaching biology.
“I’m extremely excited for my new position,” McGuigan said. “I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with such a great mentor in Coach Cashman. My experience at UCF has helped prepare me to work with an elite tennis program.”
McGuigan joined the Knights in December 2013 and worked under head coach Bobby Cashman, assisting with recruiting, practice organization and individual instruction.
“We are very excited for Mark,” Cashman said. “His hard work has paid off with a great opportunity. Washington High School has an outstanding tennis program and he will have great success in his new position.”
McGuigan arrived at UCF after three years as the women’s head coach at the University of Montevallo. A 2008 graduate of West Florida, he was a member of the Argonauts' 2004 and 2005 national championship teams and helped West Florida advance to the national semifinals in 2006 and 2007.
