ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF was unable to complete the series sweep on Sunday as rival USF defeated the Knights 9-3 at the UCF Baseball Complex. The Knights won the three-game set with victories on Friday, 3-0, and Saturday, 2-1.

Senior shortstop Dylan Moore registered three hits including a two-run double in the Knights' three-run fourth.

UCF (28-20, 7-11 The American) had its opportunities, but left 10 runners on the base paths. The game-tying run was on base in the fifth and sixth innings for the Knights before USF (29-18, 10-8 The American) tacked on three runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth.

After USF opened a 4-0 lead following two innings, the Knights gained momentum in the third inning by loading the bases on a single by Moore and two hit batters, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.

UCF started a one-out rally in the fourth inning with a single through the right side by senior right fielder Erik Barber, then a base hit through the left side by senior catcher Jordan Savinon followed. A walk drawn by senior left fielder JoMarcos Woods loaded the bases.

The first run for the Knights crossed the plate on a passed ball before Moore connected on a two-run double down the left field line to cut the deficit to 4-3.

USF was led offensively by Kyle Teaf, who registered five hits and drove in two. Brandon Lawson (1-3) notched the victory with 2 1/3 inning of relief, while Tommy Peterson notched his 14th save with three frames of work.

Sophomore Robby Howell (4-7) was given the loss. Five pitchers saw action for the Knights out of the bullpen.

UCF travels to No. 14 FAU on Wednesday with the first pitch set for 6:30 pm. The Knights return home for a three-game series with Memphis on Friday at 6:30 p.m. UCF will honor its seniors prior to Saturday's 4 p.m. first pitch.
