GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- Jenna Lucas returned to action for the first time since the Knights' opening outdoor meet of the season and broke her own UCF record in the javelin by over seven feet.

Lucas placed third in the event as UCF took part in the Tom Jones Invitational in Gainesville on Friday afternoon. The freshman recorded a mark of 45.59m/149-07, topping her previous best of 43.37m/142-03 set at the Black & Gold Challenge back in March.

A quartet of Knights ran the 3,000 meters for the first time in collegiate action on Friday. Laura Korsmit led the way, breaking the UCF freshman and school record with a time of 10:10.20 and placing third. Kalleigh Forrester was fifth in 10:25.76, Amy Ankli placed sixth in 10:28.22, and Ashton McMurray took ninth in a time of 10:43.30.

Two other Knights recorded personal best on Friday. Christal Peterson placed 12th in the 200 meter dash with a personal best time of 23.85 seconds, while Kebreyona Acker was 11th in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m/5-03.00.

Peterson also performed well in the 100 meters, placing 16th in 11.77 seconds. It was her first 100 meter dash of the season.

Terika Henry, who placed 23rd in the 400 meters, recorded a season best of 55.85 seconds. The time was less than a second off of her personal record in the event.

Paige Byrnes tied a season best height in the pole vault, clearing 3.55m/11-07.75 to place 11th. Meanwhile, Lia King put forth a pair of top field performances. She was 11th in the long jump with a distance of 5.68m/18-07.75 and sixth in the triple jump (11.67m/38-03.50).

Kalen Hambrick threw the hammer 54.76m/179-08 to place seventh, while Tara Daniels took 13th with a mark of 48.26m/158-04. Daniels also placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 12.78m/41-11.25.

UCF will next return home to host the Twilight Meet on April 30 before beginning to prepare for the American Athletic Conference Championship meet in Storrs, Conn. in May.
