CORAL GABLES, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - No. 15 UCF was unable to mount a late-inning comeback in a 4-2 loss at No. 6 Miami Tuesday night at Mark Light Field. Senior third baseman Tommy Williams blasted his fifth homer of the season in the fourth inning to tie the contest at two.

In a 2-2 game entering the bottom of the seventh, the Hurricanes (29-9) loaded the bases and scored the two game-winning runs on a single through the right side by Garrett Kennedy. UCF (25-13) had a hit batter in the eighth inning, but stranded its fifth runner in the Top-15 matchup.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Robby Howell, who was throwing on three days rest, started the Knights with 5 1/3 strong innings and recorded a pair of strikeouts.

The Knights began the game with a one-out walk drawn by freshman left fielder Kyle Marsh and senior first baseman James Vasquez beginning hit by a pitch. UCF took a 1-0 lead on a two-out single to left field by senior right fielder Erik Barber.

A solo homer by Miami's Willie Abreu to right field knotted the contest, 1-1, in the second inning.

After Marsh singled in the top of the third inning, the Hurricanes took a 2-1 advantage by turning a walk and stolen base into a run on a single by Zach Collins. The Knights ended the frame with a 6-4-3 double play.

With one out in the fourth inning, Williams delivered a solo home run to left field, tying the contest at two. The Knights became the first team in the nation to record 50 home runs on the season.

Senior shortstop Dylan Moore singled to left field in the fifth frame and moved to scoring position on a wild pitch, but the Knights could not capitalize.

The loss was given to senior lefty Harrison Hukari (4-2), who pitched 2 2/3 innings and struck out three. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native worked around a bases loaded jam in the eighth inning to provide UCF with an opportunity in its final at bat.

Miami had nine different players record a hit, while Kennedy drove in two runs. Michael Mediavilla (2-1) recorded the final two outs in the seventh inning and notched the victory, while Bryan Garcia tallied his eighth save of the year by registering the final three outs.

UCF continues a four-game road trip with a series at Tulane that begins on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The first pitch on Saturday is set for 3 p.m., while the finale Sunday starts at 2 p.m.

The Knights return home on April 22 at 6:30 p.m. to host North Florida in the final Dollar Dog Knight of the season. Single-game tickets for the 2015 baseball season are currently on sale by clicking here or calling 407-823-1000.
