AUGUSTA, Ga. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's golf team finished in a tie for 11th vs. a tough field at the 3M Augusta Invitational Sunday. The Knights were part of a 15-team field, which featured 10 teams in the top 62 of the Golfstat rankings, including two Top 5 teams.
The Knights were seventh after a first-round score of 286. But scores of 293 and 290 in the second and third rounds equaled a 5-over tally for the tournament and an 11th-place tie with Purdue.
New Mexico took the team title at 26-under, while Illinois and Georgia rounded out the top three.
Sophomore Ryan Stovash was Mr. Consistency for UCF. He turned in another Top 25 finish after posting three consecutive rounds of 71 (-1) to finish 3-under for the tournament. That was good enough to tie him for 20th, which is his fourth consecutive tournament finishing 25th or better.
Linus Vaisanen opened the tournament with a 2-under 70, but followed up with rounds of 73 and 75 to finish 2-over for the tournament. That was good enough for a tie for 42nd place. Federico Zucchetti was tied for 52nd after going 5-over with scores of 73, 76 and 72. Manuel Elvira (72-73-79-224 +8) was tied for 61st, while Jose Joia (78-78-72-228 +12) finished tied for 68th.
