WINTER PARK, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF rowing team collected three wins in five events to claim the fifth consecutive Robin Yeuell Trophy at the 35th Annual Metro Cup Regatta on Saturday.
The Knights came out strong in their first competitive event of the spring, racing against fellow American Athletic Conference opponent Villanonva, Duquesne and Rollins.
The Varsity Eight squad, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Kaitlyn Ward, Andrea Krebs, Viktorija Senkute, Ivana Krkljus, Amy Compare, Zana Krakic, Alison Ponce and Lauren Aiello bested second place Duquesne by over 12 seconds.
UCF's 2V8 boat, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Ashleigh Boyd, Jasmine Blais, Ginni Dunlop, Erin Corrigan, Olivia Staples, Crystal Victor, Dani Taylor and Abby Justinger posted a race-winning time of 6:49.7.
In the Varsity Four race, the squad consisting of Catherine Harms, Lauren Wasko, Carly Burleson, Kayla Thieken and Annie Thompson ran away from the competition, finishing in 7:34.4.
The 2V4, consisting of Kiana Thompson, Alyssa Combs, Brianne Addison, Dani Burton and Caitie Lytle, finished third with a time of 7:57.9.
The 3V8, consisting of Giuliana Abbate, Andrea Hebditch, Julia Chase, Allie Gordon, Linae Parkinson, Leigh Durden, Rachel diMonda, Taylor Barnard and Caylin Levin, finished third with a time of 7.48.0.
