GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - It was a blustery start to the 2015 SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational. The No. 21 UCF women's golf team battled cold, wind, and rain Friday in an early test at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
GRU Augusta's Eunice Yi led the field notching a one-under 69 and was the only player below par in the opening round.
Senior Fanny Cnops carded the best score for the Knights on day one. She turned in a 73 (+3), good enough for a share of fourth among individuals.
UCF sophomore Ashley Holder is tied for 25th at +6 while senior Monifa Sealy is +7. Sophomore Ayaka Nakayama and freshman Laura Sojo are +10 and +11 respectively to round out team scoring for the Knights.
UCF junior Paola Robles, who is competing as an individual, ended the day at +8.
In team play, No. 11 Arizona leads the pack at +15. Host team Florida is just two-shots back at +17, with GRU Augusta (+20) in third. Florida State (+24) is fourth while UCF (+26) and Denver (+26) are tied for fifth.
Second round action is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday with the Knights slated to tee off at 9:45 a.m.
