BATON ROUGE, La. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF women's golf team fought its way back to a tie for ninth Sunday in the final round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. Battling to the end has been the Knights' calling card all season and the closing effort at the University Golf Club was no different.

After struggling in the opening rounds, UCF carded a final-round tally that was eight-strokes better than the team's opening round score and 12-shots better than its day-two total.

Sophomore Ashley Holder led the way, climbing 14 spots on the individual leaderboard. Holder finished tied for 19th overall. Senior Monifa Sealy rose 10 spots herself, finishing tied for 23rd, just behind Holder.

Senior Fanny Cnops, junior Paola Robles and sophomore Ayaka Nakayama jumped up a collective 15-spots to help the Knights secure a top 10 team finish.

In just her second event of the year, junior Mary Mulcahy finished tied for 30th, competing as an individual.

Tournament host LSU kept the team trophy, besting Mississippi State by five shots. TCU edged Tulane by two shots for third and Wake Forest was fifth.
