ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Senior catcher Jordan Savinon's first home run of the season propelled No. 15 UCF to a 3-2 seven-inning win over No. 18 Ole Miss in game one of a doubleheader on Sunday morning. Game two, the finale of the series, is currently underway at the UCF Baseball Complex.

UCF stayed undefeated on the season by moving to 10-0, extending its school-record streak to start a year. The Rebels fell to 5-4.

It was the Knights' fourth victory over a ranked opponent in 2015. The Black and Gold also clinched the series win.

Notching the final eight outs in the contest for his first save of the season was junior lefty Harrison Hukari. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native notched three strikeouts in relief of freshman Cre Finfrock (3-0), who recorded the win with two strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work.

Just like game one, Ole Miss manufactured a run in the first inning. Kyle Watson drilled the first pitch to right center and came around to score on a sac fly by J.B. Woodman.

The Knights responded in the third by manufacturing a run of its own. Savinon started off the frame with a single through the right side before JoMarcos Woods beat out a bunt single to first.

After a sac bunt by Moore moved two into scoring position, a sacrifice fly from Barber knotted the contest, 1-1.

UCF turned its eighth double play of the season, a 4-6-3 twin killing to end the fourth inning. That set up Savninon's two-run blast in the home half to give the Knights the lead for good.

The loss was handed to Brady Bramlett, who went four innings and gave up all four runs and fanned three. Scott Weatherby fanned four in two innings of work.

The Knights welcome No. 2 Florida on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in a contest presented by Florida Hospital. UCF makes a return trip to Gainesville on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to finish out the home-and-home series.
