ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's golf team came to play in the second round of the 2015 UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. Monday.

The Knights had four players shoot under par on the day. All told, the Knights taking part in the team portion of the competition posted 19 birdies in the second round. UCF is currently in fourth place on the team leaderboard.

Senior Monifa Sealy is tied for 13th place in the individual standings. She notched three birdies on the day, finishing with a 2-under 70. Sophomore Ashley Holder turned in a bogey-free round that included 4 birdies of her own. She had the best score of the day for the Knights with a 68 (-4).

I'm really proud of the team, UCF head coach Emily Marron said. To be 11-under par on the day, is unbelievable. I think they saw yesterday, playing with Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt went out and lit it up yesterday and as a player that changes your mindset a little bit, coming in knowing you've got to make birdies. It was a great day.

Senior Fanny Cnops and freshman Laura Sojo both turned in low rounds and are tied for 15th overall. Cnops tallied five birdies Monday and finished with a 69 (-3) while Sojo was right behind her with a 70 (-2).

Senior Robyn Doig carded four birdies and shot even par to round out results for the Knights in team play. Juniors Paola Robles, Mary Mulcahy and sophomore Ayaka Nakayama competed as individuals, with each turning in much-improved scores from day one. Nakayama shot 71 (-1), eight strokes better than her first-round score. Robles improved by five strokes, carding a 70 (-2) while Mulcahy turned in a 74 (+2).

In team competition, Tulane skyrocketed to third place after shooting a 17-under total Monday. Virginia snatched the lead from Vanderbilt and holds a two-shot lead going into the final round. The Knights are just seven strokes off the lead heading into the final round of play.

Tuesday's final round is slated for a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start. Follow the Knights by clicking here for live scoring.
