NEW YORK (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team finished competition at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday, placing second out of 11 teams at The Armory in New York City.

The Knights totaled 86.5 points to finish as the runners-up after placing fourth a season ago in the first ever AAC Championship. UConn won the title with 108 points.

UCF propelled itself ahead of SMU for second when the Knights won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:39.15. The team consisted of Sandy Jean, Kirsten Nieuwendam, Terika Henry and Ashley Jocelyn.

The Knights picked up a number of points in the 60 meter dash, placing four sprinters in the top eight. J'Nea Bellamy placed second in a personal best of 7.42 seconds. Briana Vaughn was fifth in 7.53, Nieuwendam was sixth in 7.57 and Christal Peterson took eighth in 7.71.

Bellamy and Vaughn continued the trend in the 200. The former ran 23.99 seconds to take fourth place, while the latter was fifth in 24.20 seconds.

Jocelyn ran a personal record in the 400, placing fifth in 54.75 seconds, while Rosie Chamberlain set a new UCF freshman record in the 800. The freshman finished in 2:08.90 to take fourth.

Anne-Marie Blaney, who won the 5,000 meters on Friday, placed second in the 3,000 on Saturday. She set a new school record with a time of 9:31.13. Laura Korsmit and Claire Castillo also ran personal bests in the event, crossing the line in 10:04.33 and 10:46.43, respectively.

Devinn Cartwright, Lia King and Johna' Whitaker all finished in the top eight in the 60 meter hurdles. Cartwright placed fourth in 8.57 seconds, King was fifth in 8.58, and Whitaker took eighth in 8.63.
