PONTE VEDRA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - On a cool, dampday at Sawgrass Country Club, the UCF men's golf teamimproved in the second round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational Saturday. The Knights were 15 strokes better Saturday than in Friday's first round and moved up two spots on the leaderboard.
After starting the day 14th in the 15-team event, the Knights are now sitting in 12th. UCF carded a 303 (+15) Saturday and currently sits at 45-over. Texas (+5) leads after two rounds, while touranmenthosts North Florida are just three strokes off the lead in second place.
Ryan Stovash is tied for 33rd place to lead UCF. He carded a second-round score of 75 (+3) and is 8-over for the tournament. Linus Vaisanen (+12) is tied for 55th, while Manuel Elvira is tied for 62nd at 13-over. Federico Zucchetti (+15) had the best round of the day for the Knights, turning in a 2-over 74. Zucchetti is currently tied for 67th. Jose Joia (+19) rounded out the UCF lineup and is currently in 79th place.
