NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's golf team finished tenth overall at the 2015 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Tuesday. Final round play at the English Turn Golf and Country Club concluded with LSU taking home both the team and individual trophies.

The Tigers took the early lead in Sunday's opening round and never relinquished it. LSU's Madelene Sagstrom and Caroline Nistrup finished as co-medalist's, shooting 4-under par (212) for the event.

Florida and UCLA tied for second in team play while Arizona and tournament host Tulane tied for fourth.

After a fifth place start in the opening round, cold and windy conditions saw the Knights drop to 10th in round two. UCF did bounce back in Tuesday's final round. However, despite playing 18-strokes better, they were unable to move back up the leaderboard.

UCF senior Fanny Cnops carded a final round 71 (-1) to finish tied for 24 amongst individuals. Her third-round effort was the only score of the tournament under par for the Knights.

Sophomore Ashley Holder also cracked the top 30 for the Knights, finishing tied for 27th with a 228 (+12).

Freshman Laura Sojo and junior Paola Robles turned in matching three-day totals of 235 (+19) while senior Monifa Sealy finished with a 236 (+20) for the event.

UCF Head Coach Emily Marron said the team seemed a little bit stunned by the brutal conditions. She thought the team fought hard to get back into the mix and will focus on that positive play moving forward. "It showed us that we need to be a little tougher and be prepared for any conditions," Marron said. "I was proud of how they came back on the final round."

The Knights will only have nine days to regroup before they head to Gainesville, Fla. for the Lady Gator Invite March 6-8.
