GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team opened the spring portion of its 2014-15 season Saturday at the SunTrust Gator Invitational at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Knights are in 12th place after the first two rounds of play. The third and final round of the touranment will begin Sunday monring.
UCF was paced by freshman Manuel Elvira. After tallying a 74 (+4) in the first round, Elvira responded with one of the best efforts of the second round. He tallied a 69 (-1) the second time around the University of Florida course. His two-round total of 143 (+3) left him in a tie for 15th place.
Freshman Juuso Kahlos (76-73-149 +9) is currently tied for 38th. Senior Jose Joia (79-71-150 +10) is tied for 48th. Sophomore Ryan Stovash (80-75-155 +15) is in 69th place, rounding out the team scoring for the Knights. Sophomore Federico Zucchetti (81-77-158 +18) is also in the UCF lineup.
