NEW ORLEANS, La. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's basketball team stayed on Tulane's heels for nearly 40 minutes, but the Knights could never quite get ahold of the game in a 66-55 loss on Tuesday night at Devlin Fieldhouse.

After UCF guard Andrea Hines sank two free throws to close within 48-46 with six minutes remaining, the Green Wave responded with an 12-2 stretch that carried them the rest of the way.

UCF freshman Fifi Ndour tallied a team-high 11 points with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks while sophomore Zykira Lewis chipped in 10 points.

Tulane (19-5, 10-3) jumped out to a 15-6 lead in the first four and a half minutes but UCF (7-17, 3-10) worked to shrink the gap, managing to get within a single possession on several occasions.

Aliyah Gregory drove through the lane and banked it in to cut it to 19-16 but Danielle Blagg responded with a 3 from the left side on Tulane's next possession. Minutes later, Hines' trey on the left wing and Stephanie Taylor's layup made it a 1-point game, 24-23, before Kolby Morgan struck with a 3-pointer.

Lewis sliced through the lane with three minutes remaining, cutting it to 32-29, but the lead continued to elude the Knights' grasp. Tulane chipped in 3 more points to hold a 35-29 edge at the break.

Although the Knights held Tulane without a field goal for 10 minutes, the Green Wave stayed one step ahead thanks to their production at the free throw line. They converted 7-of-10 before Courtnie Latham broke through with a 3-pointer.

Brittni Montgomery provided a spark when the Knights needed it, pouring in five-straight points. When the buzzer sounded, UCF had outscored Tulane 30-14 in the paint.

But the Knights' foul trouble cost them when they put Tulane in the bonus with 11 minutes remaining. The Green Wave went 10-for-10 in the final five minutes to seal the game.

UCF will host its Pink Game on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Cincinnati. UCF plans to raise funds for Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation with its "Chuck a Duck" promotion. Fans can purchase rubber ducks for $1 each to throw at a target during halftime. The closest to the target will win a prize pack, and all proceeds generated will be donated to the foundation.

Fans can get in on the action with the "Season Ticket Card," which is on sale now, starting at $15. Tickets are available today by calling (407) UCF-1000 or buying online by clicking here.
