LEXINGTON, Ky. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF's distance medley team of Amelia Williams, Kirsten Nieuwendam, Rosie Chamberlain and Anne-Marie Blaney won the first event on the track at the Kentucky Invitational.
The foursome broke the school record in the event with a time of 11:44.19. The previous best for a UCF team was 11:55.07 set back in 2013 by Ne'Ausha Logan, Ebony Rose, Erica Winston and Blaney.
Blaney holds four UCF indoor track records as she also has the best time in the mile, the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters.
The only other competition on the first day of the Invite was the weight throw. UCF freshman Tara Daniels saw her first collegiate action, throwing for a distance of 14.61 meters to place 20th.
The meet will continue Saturday morning, beginning with the high jump at 9 a.m. and concluding with the 4x400 meter relay at approximately 4:25 p.m.
