MIAMI, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Saturday just wasn't the UCF women's basketball team's night at FIU Arena.

The Knights forced FIU to tally nearly as many turnovers (21) as made baskets (22), but couldn't capitalize off the Panthers' errors, dropping a 66-57 decision.

UCF senior center Brittni Montgomery and freshman guard Aliyah Gregory led UCF's scorers with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Senior guard Andrea Hines also had a productive stat line with 8 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds and zero turnovers.

FIU hopped out to a 7-0 lead in the first 1:25, prompting a UCF timeout. From there, the Knights (4-3) seemed to snap out of their funk with a 10-0 run. They held the Panthers (1-5) without a field goal for nearly seven minutes.

UCF led by as much as 5 points, 17-12, when Zykira Lewis hit a 3-pointer with 10:10 to play, but FIU was able to hang around with production from the free throw line. Kiandre'a Pound tied it up 18-18 with a jumper from the elbow to swing momentum back in the Panthers' favor.

Hines hit a baseline jumper to cut the deficit to a one-possession game just before the break, 27-24.

The Panthers chipped in a quick 3-pointer and layup in the first minute of the second half and used a 10-2 run midway through to lead by as much as 13 points, 47-34.

The Knights, meanwhile, struggled to find the bottom of the net, shooting 22-of-69 for the night and were never able to threaten the Panthers' hold on the lead.

UCF continues life on the road next week with a trip to New York where the Knights will face St. John's on an ESPN3 broadcast matchup Dec. 11.

Fans can get in on the action all year with the "Season Ticket Card," which is on sale now, starting at $30. Tickets are available today by calling (407) UCF-1000 or buying online by clicking here.
