UIC set the tone early, scoring the first two buckets of the game en route to a 14-3 advantage less than five minutes in. Harris scored eight of the Flames' first 14 points.

Junior Daiquan Walker knocked down a three-pointer to spark a 7-0 run that tied the game at 20-20 with 6:41 to play in the first. Fellow junior Dylan Karell scored the other four points of the spurt, driving for two and hitting 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.

The Knights turned the ball over three times in the first 96 seconds of the second half, which led to six UIC points and a 33-30 lead for the Flames.
