NORMAN, Okla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's golf team got off to a good start against a tough field at the Schooner Golf Classic Saturday, sitting in ninth after the opening round.
Leading the Knights were junior Monifa Sealy and Sophomore Ayaka Nakayama who each turned in rounds of 71 (+1). The pair combined for nine birdies and 21 pars. They trail the tournament's individual leaders by just four strokes.
Mississippi State leads SMU by five shots on the team leaderboard, with Texas A&M and LSU tied for third.
UCF is scheduled to tee off at 9:30 a.m. ET as the teams looks to move up the leaderboard in Sunday's second round.
