ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF combined to record five victories on Friday at the USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational at Isleworth and Grand Cypress. Junior Clare Mendell and freshman Monica Matias are set to battle in the Doubles C Final on Saturday.

In the main B draw, Matias faced the No. 2 seed Jennifer Pfeifler of Auburn and captured the first set. 7-5. The Moca, Puerto Rico, native won in straight sets and clinched a place in the semifinals with a 7-4 tiebreaker in the second.

Defaults enabled for a pair of Knights' tandems to move on as freshman Kennan Johnson and Caroline Eberhart advanced to the semifinals on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., while Mendell/Matias battle against Pfeifler/Lewis of Auburn in the doubles C final at 3 p.m.

The Knights fared well in consolation draws as junior Sofia Baptista notched a 7-5, 6-3 win over Adi Milstein from Columbia in bracket B. Junior Caroline Eberhart split the first two sets, 6-4, against Rema Asatrian from Columbia and secured the match with an 11-9 victory in the third set super tiebreaker.

The semifinal B match for Matias is set for 9:30 a.m. against Katherine Butler from Virginia Tech at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Consolation A matches continue for sophomore Cortney Cesarini and Eberhart on Saturday at 9 a.m. Baptista battles in singles B at 11 a.m. Saturday.
