ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's golf team finished at even par in the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, which wrapped up at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club Tuesday afternoon. The Knights, co-hosts of the event, were 12th in the 15-team tournament.
Linus Vaisanen was the most consistent UCF golfer. The senior from Finland was 1-under (71) in Sunday's first round. He then posted back-to-back even-par scores of 72 on Monday and Tuesday to finish in a tie for 29th place at -1.
Sophomore Federico Zucchetti was even par for the tournament, carding rounds of 74 (+2), 70 (-2) and 72 (E) to finish in a tie for 35th. Sophomore Ryan Stovash and senior Jose Joia were each +1 for the tournament. The Knight duo tied for 40th. Freshman Juuso Kahlos rounded out the UCF lineup at +5, finishing tied for 55th.
In the team competition, Florida State went back and forth with Vanderbilt throughout the final round. The Seminoles eventually took a two-stroke victory, finishing 37-under. Vanderbilt took runner-up honors, followed by tournament co-host Texas Tech, which finished third.
While Vanderbilt settled for runner-up honors in the team competition, the Commodores took the top two spots in the individual competition. Hunter Stewart fired a 65 and a 66 sandwiched around an even-par 72 in the second round to finish 13-under. His Vanderbilt teammate Carson Jacobs was just one stroke off the pace at -12 to take runner-up accolades.
The Tavistock Collegiate Invitational wraps up the fall portion of UCF's 2014-15 season. The Knights will be off until Valentine's Day, when they open play at the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
