ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's golf team was 1-under for its first round at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational (TCI) Sunday afternoon at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. The Knights are tied for ninth place after one round after posting their score of 287 in the prestigious 15-team event.

Sophomore Ryan Stovash, senior Jose Joia and senior Linus Vaisanen paced UCF. Each of those three Knights carded 1-under scores of 71 in the first round. Stovash posted five birdies, but had a pair of bogies and one double bogey. Joia tallied three birdies and just a pair of bogies. Vaisanen carded one of just seven eagles on the day, while also tallying a birdie and a pair of bogies.

Freshman Juuso Kahlos and sophomore Federico Zucchetti rounded out the Knights' lineup. They are currently tied for 53rd, each posting a 2-over 74.

Texas Tech, which co-hosts the TCI along with UCF, sits in first place after the first round. The Red Raiders were 21-under for the first round. Guillermo Pereira shot a tournament-record 63 (-9) to lead Texas Tech and hold down the first-round individual lead. Florida State is in second place, just three strokes off the pace, while Vanderbilt is in third just one stroke behind the Seminoles.

Monday's second round is slated to begin at 8 a.m. The Knights will be among the first five groups off the tee Monday. The third and final round of the TCI will be played Tuesday.
