TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF cross country team finished up its regular season slate in fine fashion Friday, placing second by just one point to the host Seminoles at the Florida State Invitational.

For the fourth time in five races this season, junior Anne-Marie Blaney crossed the line before anyone else. She recorded a time of 17:23.65 on the five kilometer course in Tallahassee, topping the runner-up - her sister Catherine of USF - by nearly 30 seconds.

Blaney's performance led the Knights to 73 total points, falling just one shy of tying Florida State, which finished with 72 after putting two harriers in the top five overall. There were 10 Division I teams in competition.

A trio of freshmen came through once again for UCF, led by Laura Korsmit's 10th place finish in a time of 18:25.71. Holly Wooley took 16th in 18:35.04, while Rosie Chamberlain finished in a time of 18:41.40 to take 17th.

Junior Amy Ankli rounded out the scoring for the Knights, finishing in the top five for UCF for the first time this season. She placed 29th overall in a season-best time of 19:00.59.

The girls ran very well, Assistant Coach Johnny Gray said. Amy stepped up for us in a big way. We are really starting to come around at the right time. I am very proud of our ladies for a job well done.

Freshman Tabatha Henry had a great individual performance, placing 71st overall in a time of 20:35.86. Her previous best was 20:41.69 at the Mountain Dew Invitational earlier this season.
