SHOAL CREEK, Ala. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team slipped to eighth place to finish the Shoal Creek Invitational Hosted by Graeme McDowell.
The Knights entered Tuesday's third and final round in sixth place, but couldn't manage a final round score below par and dropped back on the leaderboard.
Senior Linus Vaisanen and sophomore Federico Zucchetti were UCF's top individual finishers. The duo ended up tied for 14th place with three-round totals of 219 (+3). Zucchetti was even on the day, turning in a third-round score of 72, while Vaisanen was +2 on Tuesday.
Senior Jose Joia was tied for 10th entering the third round. But he struggled to an 81 (+9) Tuesday and finished tied for 29th. Freshman Thadd Obecny was 12-over for the tournament and tied for 40th. Sophomore Ryan Stovash rounded out the Knights' lineup, taking 50th place at +15.
North Florida came from behind to defeat defending national champion Alabama and claim the top spot in the tournament. The host UAB Blazers were third.
UCF is off until Oct. 19, when the Knights co-host the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club Oct. 19-21.
