ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Finishing up Saturday matches that were halted due to inclement weather, UCF won two-of-three singles contests against North Florida. The Knights continued to find success against the Ospreys on Sunday by sweeping doubles action to round out the UCF Quad Tournament.

The three-day event at the UCF Tennis Complex featured the debut of freshmen Kennan Johnson and Monica Matias. The duo went a combined 6-1 in singles and doubles contests against Florida Atlantic and North Florida.

As a whole, the Knights registered an 12-2 mark in singles play, while the doubles tandems posted an 7-2 record.

At No. 1, sophomore Cortney Cesarini defeated Esther Zaniga of UNF in a close bout that was decided by a 12-10 tiebreaker, while junior Caroline Eberhart secured a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Taylor Hollander at No. 3.

In an individual match that was resumed from Friday, sophomore Annika Hepp posted a 6-3, 6-2 win against Alexa Ricci of Florida Atlantic.

UCF continued to roll in doubles action, holding the Ospreys to just three points or less in the three matches. Cesarini and her partner junior Sofia Baptista sealed an 8-3 victory at the No. 1 slot. The team of Eberhart and Johnson kept their opponents at bay with an 8-1 achievement, while junior Clare Mendell and Matias delivered an 8-3 win at No. 3.

Once again, an afternoon thunderstorm forced the cancellation of doubles play between UCF and Georgia State.

The Knights return to action on Oct. 10 at the Bedford Cup held in Jacksonville, Fla., as the fall season continues.
