ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF baseball team dropped a 1-0 decision to visiting Florida Atlantic in non-conference action Tuesday night at Jay Bergman Field. The no. 26-ranked Knights and the Owls will go at it again Wednesday night in Boca Raton.

We just have to get on the bus tomorrow, it's the midnight rule, and play the same exact team tomorrow, Head Coach Terry Rooney said after the game. That's all we can do. We just have to keep getting better.

UCF (29-19) got a solid outing from starting pitcher Spencer Davis, who allowed one unearned run on five hits in five and one third innings.

Spencer Davis did tremendous, Rooney said. We've talked about, down this stretch run, continuing to get better, and that's how we become a better team. Spencer Davis has really troubled the last couple outings and he did a really nice job out there today.

The Owls (25-23) picked up their lone run in the fifth on one hit, a walk, an error and a passed ball.

The Knights' Zac Favre relieved Davis in the sixth and pitched three and two-thirds innings of shutout baseball. The sophomore struck out five and allowed no hits to keep UCF in the game.

The offense just never got anything going on Tuesday. The owls pitchers allowed just three UCF hits, two of which came from Tommy Williams. FAU used five pitchers, who struck out one batter each, and walked just one total.

We'll get our offense going, but credit FAU, because their pitchers did a great job today, Rooney concluded.

Davis fell to 2-1 on the season with the loss, while Brandon Rhodes improved to 3-0 with the victory. Kevin Alexander picked up his sixth save with one inning of no-hit baseball in the ninth.

The Owls and the Knights will square off again on Wednesday night in Boca Raton. UCF will return home this weekend for a three-game non-conference series against Presbyterian.
