ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF track and field sophomore Anne-Marie Blaney set a new school record in the 5000 meters by recording a time of 16:34.57 on Friday night at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
The Ocala, Fla., native tallied her third-straight victory to being the outdoor season by edging Georgia's Carly Hamilton (16:35.24) by less than one second at the James G. Pressley Stadium at Percy Beard Track to conclude the women's events on Friday night.
Notching a personal best in the 400M hurdles was junior Devinn Cartwright with a 1:00.18.
Senior Erica Winston notched the eighth-best time in the 800 meters at 2:09.91. The mark was a new personal-high for the Long Beach, Calif., native.
In the 100M hurdles, freshman Lia King registered a 14.26 (+1.1) mark, while Cartwright was one-hundredth of a second off her personal best with a time of 14.15 (+1.1) set at the Black & Gold Challenge on March 22.
A personal record was also set by freshman Holly Wooley in the 5000 meters with a time of 17:33.56.
Seniors Destinee Romain and Kalen Hambrick start Saturday's competition for the Knights with the hammer throw. The running events begin at 12:30 p.m with the sprint medley team of seniors Jen Clayton, Afia Charles, sophomore Briana Vaughn and freshman J'Nea Bellamy.
