ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The future is uncertain, that much is certain. But UCF Junior Fanny Cnops is about to get a rare glimpse into hers, playing with and against professional golfers.
Cnops has been on fire as of late, turning in top-three finishes in her last three tournaments, including medalist honors at the UCF Challenge. She was named the American Athletic Conference player of the week in late February.
Now, she has been invited to take part in the Symetra Tour's (formerly the LPGA Futures Tour) IOA Golf Classic, which takes place at Alacqua Country Club in Longwood, Fla., March 28-30.
The tournament will feature top professionals from around the country who are trying to earn a spot on the LPGA Tour. Also taking part in the IOA Golf Classic will be former Knights and current Symetra Tour members Stephanie Connelly and Carolin Pinegger.
It is a wonderful opportunity for Fanny to test her game against professionals and see how she stacks up, UCF head coach Emily Marron said. I think she will do very well, and the most important part for her is simply the experience.
Prior to the tournament, the entire UCF team will be joining several Symetra Tour players for a junior golf clinic with 90 YMCA kids. The clinic will take place on March 25, at Alacqua Country Club.
Coach Marron said the team is excited to speak with the kids about golf, school, values, and what it means to be a student athlete as well as to have some fun hitting golf balls on the range.
