WINTER PARK, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Under ideal racing conditions on a beautiful Florida day, the UCF rowing team shined as it began the 2014 spring season strong by claiming its fourth-consecutive Robin Yeuell Trophy Saturday at the 34th Annual Metro Cup Regatta.
Winds were dead calm for the majority of the day with just a slight progression into a tail wind for the later events. It was truly perfect weather for racing.
UCF's V8 got things rolling as the team consisting of Bre'Onna McNeal, Lauren Aiello, Jasmine Blais, Alison Ponce, Amy Compare, Olivia Staples, Genevieve Lorbergs, Calena Illan and Ginni Dunlop put up a race-winning time of 6:27.4. The Knights' 2V8 of Rebecca Campbell, Kaitlyn Ward, Noelle Crosby, Camille Everett, Erin Corrigan, Brianne Addison, Rachel Klunder, Carly Burleson and Ashleigh Boyd finished just behind in second place in 6:32.5
The Black and Gold again shined in V4 with a squad consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Lauren Wasko, Niki Patten, Danielle Taylor, Andrea Krebs earning another race victory of the day by topping the Tars and Gators in 7:20.4.
The Women's Varsity 4B, Women's Novice 4 and from Frosh/Novice 8 boats each earned victories as well with times of 7:37.5, 7:57.0 and 6:48.1 respectively.
