ASHEVILLE, N.C. (UCFKnights.com) - Completing its spring break road trip, the UCF women's tennis team blanked UNC Asheville, 6-0, Tuesday at the Asheville Racquet Club.
The Black and Gold improved to 4-5 on the season, with the Bulldogs falling to 6-3.
UCF struck first by winning a pair of doubles matches for the first point of the day. At No. 1, Caroline Eberhart and Courtney Griffith topped Zoe Hamel and Ericka Rivero, 8-4. Over at the No. 2 spot, Sofia Baptista and Cortney Cesarini took down Christine Boissevain and Amryn Soldier, 8-3.
The visitors then swept singles play, with No. 1 not being finished. Eberhart delivered a 7-6, 6-0 performance at No. 2 over Rivero, and Griffith edged Boissevain at No. 3, 7-5, 7-6. Facing Soldier at No. 4, Cesarini posted a 6-4, 6-2 win, Baptista defeated Emily McNall at No. 5, 6-4, 6-1, and Annika Hepp notched a 7-5, 6-1 win over Gillian Lewis at No. 6.
The Knights will be back home to host SMU March 13 at 2 p.m. and Memphis March 15 at noon.
