ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Dan Forcella has been named Associate Director of Communications for UCF Athletics.
Forcella will be the primary communications contact for men's basketball at UCF. He will also work directly with the Knights' men's and women's tennis programs.
I would like to thank Todd Stansbury, Andy Seeley, and everyone involved in the process for giving me this wonderful opportunity at UCF, Forcella said. I am very excited and humbled to join the UCF family as a member of the athletics communications staff, and look forward to working with all of the coaches, student-athletes and staff in the coming years.
Forcella came to UCF from Stetson University, where he was the primary contact for men's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, lacrosse and cross country, while providing leadership and oversight for media relations and communication functions.
Before his tenure at Stetson, Forcella was a graduate assistant for athletic media relations at Belmont for two years. While earning his Master of Sport Administration degree with a 4.0 GPA at Belmont, Forcella was the media contact for the school's men's soccer, cross country and baseball teams. With the Bruins he gained extensive media relations experience through conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances by both the men's basketball and baseball teams.
Prior to his time at Belmont, Forcella spent two years as Assistant Sports Information Director at Central Connecticut State University, where he was the media contact for 11 sports, including women's basketball, men's soccer and volleyball.
We're thrilled to have attracted a communications professional with the skills and drive that Dan brings to the table, UCF Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications Andy Seeley said. Dan will continue our effort to tell the compelling stories of our Everyday Champion student-athletes, while providing great service to the many constituents he will serve.
Forcella began his duties with the Knights Thursday (March 27).
Hailing from Falmouth, Maine, Forcella received his Bachlor of Arts degree from Vassar College in 2008. He worked in the sports information department as an undergraduate for three years, and was a member of the men's basketball team for all four, captaining the squad as a senior.
