ORLANDO, Fla. ( - The UCF women's tennis team continued its home schedule Friday in a 4-3 loss to No. 39 Kansas at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights moved to 4-8 on the season.

UCF has lost five matches this year by 4-3 margins, but in 12 contests overall, it has notched at least two points 10 times.

Kansas (11-4) opened the day with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in doubles for the 1-0 overall lead.

The Jayhawks doubled their advantage to 2-0 by way of a win at No. 3 singles. But the Knights would not go away easily. At No. 6, Clare Mendell breezed past Caroline Henderson, 6-4, 6-1, and Sofia Baptista thumped Anastasija Trubica at No. 5, 6-4, 6-0.

With the afternoon locked up at 2-2, the visitors halted UCF's chance at an upset by pulling out wins at No. 4 and then No. 2. Josephine Haraldson closed out the day with the Knights' third and final point, earning a 1-6, 7-6, 6-1 comeback win at the top spot against Dylan Windom.

The Black and Gold stays at home when it hosts Samford Tuesday at 2 p.m.
