ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Knights will hit the courts Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. to face No. 39 Kansas in what will be the third match of a five-game homestand. UCF will also play host to No. 73 Samford on March 25 at 2 p.m. and East Tennessee State March 27 at 2 p.m.
All fans are admitted free into the UCF Tennis Complex.
With close matches falling just short against conference opponents SMU and Memphis, the Black and Gold (4-7, 0-3 AAC) will step up to the baseline this week with winning at the forefront. Senior leader and everyday champion Sofia Baptista has engineered a 12-12 overall record and has won four straight matches.
The No. 39-ranked Jayhawks stand at 10-3 and have secured big wins in their most recent matches against Iowa State, 6-1, and West Virginia, 7-0.
After a sure victory against Davidson, the No. 73 Bulldogs improved to 4-0 against Southern Conference opponents and moved to 11-1 on the year. Samford also holds an impressive 56-13 record in singles play and look to deliver against the Knights.
East Tennessee State has won three straight games and is currently 6-7 overall.
The UCF women's tennis team will be heading south to Miami with matchups coming against FIU and UAB April 4 and April 5. Both contests begin at noon.
