ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The game-winning run for UCF was in scoring position before Southern Illinois finished off a 5-4 victory on Tuesday night at the UCF Softball Complex. The Knights rallied in the seventh with five hits including a three-run homer to left by sophomore Jessica Ujvari, but snapped a seven-game win streak.

Singles by sophomores first baseman Samantha McCloskey and catcher Kalyn Cenal started off the UCF (16-8) in the seventh prior to the homer by Je. Ujvari. Junior third baseman Farrah Sullivan continued the comeback with a single to short before a two-out base knock and stolen base by classmate Kahley Novak.

Southern Illinois (10-10) relief pitcher Bertelsen was up to the task in notching her second save of the season with a groundout to end the game. The starter Shaye Harre fanned one and improved to 3-2 on the season by tossing 6.1 innings.

Junior pitcher Mackenzie Audas, who struck out five, fell to 7-7 on the year. Four innings of relief with seven strikeouts were registered by sophomore Jamie Ujvari.

After SIU loaded the bases and scored a run on an error in the first inning, Novak singled to left and stole second to move into scoring position. A double to the right-center gap by sophomore outfielder Mariah Garcia knotted the contest at one.

A two-run homer by Taylor Osborne put Southern Illinois on top 3-1 in second. Sullivan, who notched a pair of hits, came through with a double to center field in the second inning to break out of an eight-game slump.

The difference in the game proved to be a two-run fourth inning for the Salukis, where they took advantage of three walks, a hit batter and wild pitch.

The Knights left fielder Goodman ended the top of the six by flashing the leather with a diving catch that stole extra bases.

UCF continues its season-long 23-game homestand on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Florida Atlantic and Yale beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Owls and Bulldogs are set to play the first game of the day at 1 p.m.
