ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF rowing team picked up a victory on Saturday as the Knights held their first home regatta of the year at the UCF Intercollegiate Rowing Center on Lake Pickett.

The Knights' 3V8 A boat consisting of coxswain Cox: Monica Rooker, Kathryn DiVincenzo, Megan O'Hara, Alexa Ronelli, Christina Cassolato, Morgan Hoisington, Andrea Hebditch, Julia Chase and Kirksey Hagan competed against the 3rd varsity from Northeastern as well as UCF's 3V8 B boat and earned a big victory with a time of 6:57.60.

This weekend was a good culmination of our last week of training, head coach Becky Cramer said. We have been working on closing the gap from last year to this year. We've got a very young team, but they raced hard today. They fought the entire way and in the third 500M of each race, we made up ground.

In the second race of the day at 9:15 a.m., UCF's varsity 4 finished in third place with a time of 7:43.14. The Knights' 2nd varsity 8 came in as a runner up with a time of 6:55.10. In the final race of the day at 10 a.m., the Black and Gold's varsity 8 finished second in 6:44.33.

Our fitness is good, Cramer continued. Now we need to focus a little more on strategy and get more comfortable at attacking earlier. Tt was a great race and a great weekend overall.
