ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Knights started strong at the UCF Challenge Sunday, setting a new single-round school record. UCF shot a combined 282 (-6) on day one of their lone home event of the spring.
"It's always nice to get off to a good start," UCF Coach Emily Marron said. "We clearly feel comfortable at Eagle Creek and that played a big part in our success today."
Fanny Cnops led all players with an amazing round of 67 (-5) and Ashley Holder and Robyn Doig helped lead the way, shooting 70 (-2) and 72 (E) respectively for the first round. The Knights will take a five shot lead into day two with the University of Miami in second place.
"Fanny Cnops played a brilliant round," Coach Marron said. "We know we have to stay focused as we still have two more days and a lot of talented teams on our heels."
Mary Muchaly also opened the tournament shooting a 71 (-1) and is currently tied for 9th, taking part as an individual.
The second round of the UCF Challenge is set to begin Monday at 9 a.m.
