ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's tennis team will be looking for sunny skies this week after having its match against Missouri cancelled due to persistent rain and inclement weather Feb. 21-22. The Knights will play host to Eastern Michigan Wednesday at 2 p.m., South Alabama Thursday at 2 p.m. and will hit the road Sunday to face off against Furman at noon.
All fans are admitted free into the UCF Tennis Complex.
The Black and Gold moved to 3-3 on the season and aim to regain their footing after dropping a close bout against rival USF Feb. 19. Freshman Cortney Cesarini leads the Knights with 11 singles wins overall, followed closely by sophomore Clare Mendell with 10. Seniors Courtney Griffith and Josephine Haraldson hold the No. 1 position in doubles-play and are 3-1 in dual-match action.
Eastern Michigan holds a 6-5 overall record but has dropped three straight since defeating the University of Missouri-Kansas City 7-0. South Alabama, meanwhile, stands at 5-0 on the year with recent victories coming against Jacksonville State 6-1 and Southern Miss 5-2. Weekend action will feature Furman, 4-3, who has won two of its last three matches.
UCF travels to North Carolina the following week to play UNC Asheville March 4 and will begin a five-game home stand against American Athletic Conference foe SMU March 13.
