HARTFORD, Conn. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's basketball team could do little to stop the well-oiled machine that is top-ranked UConn in Wednesday night's 83-35 loss at the XL Center.

The Knights (10-16, 3-12) were overmatched in the paint where the Huskies (27-0, 14-0) were able to tally 44 points to the Knights' 6.

Freshman Zykira Lewis notched her fifth-straight game of double figures with a team-high 11 points. Senior Sara Djassi joined her with 10 points.

After junior forward Yanique Gordon chipped in the first basket of the game, the Huskies rattled off 11 unanswered points within the first 4:14.

Lewis cut the deficit back into single digits with a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws in back-to-back possessions, but once again UConn strung together a 10-0 run. It wasn't until Djassi drained a trey off an inbounds play to the right wing that the Knights broke the drought, 27-12.

Bria Hartley had a 3-pointer of her own to respond for UConn, who eventually extended its lead to 46-20 by the end of the first half.

For the first 12 minutes after the break, junior forward Brittni Montgomery was the only Knight to score, allowing UConn to keep its undefeated record intact.

UCF returns to Orlando on Saturday to face Cincinnati on Alumni Day at 4 p.m.
