PARRISH, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- Following back-to-back wins to start the spring semester, the No. 21 UCF women's golf team charged on to the Central District Invitational Monday. The two-day, three-round affair at Lakewood Ranch in Parrish, Fla. saw the Knights - and UCF junior Fanny Cnops - in familiar positions.

Cnops leads all players after two rounds, posting an opening round of 68 (-4) and a second round personal-best 66 (-6), the lowest single-round score by any of the Knights this season. Cnops won medalist honors at the UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek in the Knights' last outing.

Kristine Odaiyar is tied for fifth overall at -5 and Kaitlyn Price is -2 for the tournament.

UCF head coach Emily Marron was pleased with another strong start. But she knows the Knights still need to play well to finish ahead of a talented field.

"We know it will be close, but we are excited to be in this position again," Marron said.

The Knights are 15-under par for the tournament and lead No. 14 Vanderbilt by two strokes, with host team No. 20 Michigan State five shots back entering Tuesday's third and final round.
