ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's tennis team will make the short trek to Gainesville Wednesday to tangle with No. 2 Florida at 3 p.m., while it will host South Alabama Friday at 2 p.m.
The Knights opened the dual-match season Jan. 25 with a 4-3 win at Florida Gulf Coast. Picking up singles victories were Courtney Griffith, Cortney Cesarini and Clare Mendell, while the top two doubles pairs combined to give up just one game as UCF claimed the doubles point.
Florida brings in a 2-0 record with victories over No. 70 Louisville and No. 67 Harvard last weekend. The Gators have six players ranked in the top 40 in singles.
Following UCF's match with Florida, it will host South Alabama Friday with admission free for all fans. The Jaguars stand at 2-0, grabbing wins against Jackson State and Alabama State. They will face Bethune-Cookman Thursday before heading to Orlando.
The contest against South Alabama will be the first of seven straight home matches for the Black and Gold.
