LECANTO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's golf team began the spring portion of its 2013-14 campaign with a bang Monday at the Florida Shootout. The Knights took the team title by two strokes over Florida State.

UCF turned in scores of 288 and 294 in the one-day, two-round event, held at The Quarry course at Black Diamond Ranch. The Knights' total of 582 strokes was two better than FSU's back-to-back rounds of 292 for a total of 584.

"It's a great way to start our spring season," head coach Emily Marron said. "We got good results from everyone. It was a true team effort. There was a lot of school pride on the line today and we were happy to come out on top. This is a big win for us and will give us momentum going into our home event."

Fanny Cnops led the way for the Knights. She carded rounds of 70 and 73 for a score of 143, which was good enough for runner-up honors. Kaitlyn Price also opened with a 70, but finished with a 75 to finish fifth. Robyn Doig was seventh after rounds of 72 and 75 left her with a total of 145.
