LEXINGTON, Ky. (UCFKnights.com) - A pair of third-place finishes highlighted the second and final day at the Kentucky Invitational for the UCF women's track and field team.
Erica Winston turned in a time of 2:13.72 in the 800-meter run, finishing just two-tenths of a second off the pace. Winston was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that turned in a time of 3:45.31 to take a bronze finish.
Briana Vaughn led a trio of top finishers for the Knights in the 60-meter dash. Vaughn's time of 7.51 was good enough for fifth, Christal Peterson (7.59) and J'Nea Bellamy (7.62) were sixth and seventh, respectively. Vaughn also recorded an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 25.02.
Ne'Ausha Logan, who was also a member of the 4x400-meter team, took eighth place as an individual in the 800 in a time of 2:14.39.
In the field events, Allison Lampert and Destinee Romain were the bright spots for the Knights. Lampert was sixth in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet 5-inches. Romain also had a sixth-place finish, in the weight throw, with a toss of 58-7 ½. Romain also turned in an eighth-place mark in the shot put, tossing it 44-8 ¾.
UCF will continue its indoor season Jan. 24 at the Terrier Invitational in Boston.
