Five Wins Highlight Day One

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UNF Invitational got underway Friday with the UCF women's tennis team getting its fifth and final fall tournament started in Jacksonville.

UCF snagged a doubles victory to start the afternoon when Cortney Cesarini and Annika Hepp topped Florida A&M's Stephanie Miller and Shantal Blackwood, 8-2.

In singles action, the Knights picked up four more wins. Two Knights netted 6-0, 6-0 triumphs when Josephine Haraldson defeated USF's Loreto Alonso and Hepp cruised by FAMU's Stephanie Miller.

Sofia Baptista also notched a straight-set win by getting by Alia Nour of Charleston Southern, 6-1, 7-6(3), and Courtney Griffith went the distance for her 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory over CSU's Alexandra Walters.

The Knights return to work with day two Saturday.
