TAMPA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - A 3-hour and 15-minute lightning delay and a relocated game field didn't keep the UCF women's soccer team from putting on a show in Tampa against North Florida at the USF Soccer Classic.

The Knights (3-2-0) deluged the Ospreys (1-3-1), 5-0, Friday night thanks to an all-around effort highlighted by junior forward Tatiana Coleman. Coleman recorded the first hat trick for UCF in six years (Danielle dos Santos at SMU; Oct. 14, 2007).

Due to the prolonged delay, the game was relocated to the USF Track & Field Complex while the Bulls faced Middle Tennessee on their home turf. The Knights had no problem staying focused as seven players accounted for 16 points, and 22 players clocked minutes.

"I think they were hungry, so they did a good job of staying focused for the game," UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. "Just a great team effort."

In less than three minutes into the contest, Coleman put UCF on the board with her third goal of the season. Junior midfielder Jennifer Martin found her teammate at the top right corner of the box where she fired the ball past UNF's keeper to the far post.

Freshman forward Lena Petermann struck next for her first official goal of the season just before the 15th minute with help from sophomore midfielder Megan Fish.

Coleman added another goal in the 29th minute after some fluid ball movement by Petermann and freshman Kayla Adamek that set her up with a look in front of the net, which she finished to the bottom left corner.

She completed her hat trick just before halftime when Adamek hit her with a through-ball as she darted from the right side for a look at an open net.

Senior Katy Ling got in on the action after the break by scoring her first goal in three years to increase UCF's lead 5-0 thanks to an assist from freshman left back Caroline Bado.

With the victory, the Knights clinched their third shutout of the young season.

The Knights will showdown with Middle Tennessee at noon Sunday at Corbett Stadium.
