BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF men's golf team is in seventh place after two rounds at the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate, hosted by Graeme McDowell. The Knights are taking place in the 12-team tournament, which is being held at the Shoal Creek Country Club.
UCF was fifth after the first round, after posting a 285 (-3). The Knights came back in the second round with an even-par 288 to finish the day with a two-round score of 573 (-3), which put them 17 strokes back of the host school UAB, which is the second-round leader.
Ricardo Gouveia paced UCF. He shot a first-round 69 (-3) and backed it up with a 70 (-2) in the second round for a total of 139 (-5). He is four strokes back of Mississippi's Blake Morris, who leads the tournament at -9. The Knights' Greg Eason is at even par after posting scores of 71 and 73 for a two-round score of 144. He is currently tied for 27th.
Freshman Ryan Stovash opened with a 1-under 71, but was 2-over in the second round to finish the day 1-over and is tied for 30th. Linus Vaisanen rounded out the UCF scoring in round one. He is 3-over for two rounds after posting scores of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1). Kyle Wilshire's second-round score counted in the UCF score, as he carded a 76 (+4) in the first round and a 72 (E) in the second round. Vaisanen is tied for 36th and Wilshire is tied for 39th.
