WINTER PARK, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - All of the work put in during the offseason was finally put to the test this weekend as the UCF women's tennis team hosted the Knights Invitational in Winter Park.
Sunday's play used new experimental scoring changes by the ITA, which will be implemented during dual matches in January and February.
The Knights pulled out three more singles victories on day three as they battled Florida Gulf Coast. Cortney Cesarini only surrendered three games in her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Candela Munoz Giron, while Sofia Baptista also won in straight sets with a 6-3, 6-2 decision against Elizabeth Means.
Wrapping up the day, Caroline Eberhart edged Sarah Means in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.
For the tournament, USF's Kayla Rizzolo took home the singles crown, while Rizzolo and Loreto Alonso-Martinez won the doubles title.
UCF will take a weekend off before getting back on the courts when it travels to Gainesville for the Bedford Cup Oct. 10-13.
