KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF women's golf team put together a top-five finish at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon. The event - played at the Cherokee Country Club - was shortened to two rounds, after Saturday's play was suspended due to rain.

Arkansas took the team title and was the only team to finish under par, finishing 5-under. The Razorbacks carded rounds of 282 and 281 for a final tally of 563. South Carolina (+3), Tulane (+11), Tennessee (+13) and UCF (+14) rounded out the top five. The Knights picked up victories over the likes of Louisville, Notre Dame, Michigan, Mississippi State, Penn State, Mississippi and Missouri in the 17-team event.

We knew this week we were going up against some of the best teams in the country and we proved we can really hang with any team, UCF head coach Emily Marron said. I'd like to see us close a little better. I think this team has the potential to grow and consistently contend at every event. We have a lot to be proud of and are excited to head out west for our next two tournaments.

Fanny Cnops was UCF's top golfer in the event. She was in the lead after one round, but slipped back to a tie for 12th on Sunday. Cnops opened with a 3-under 68, but carded a 4-over 75 Sunday to finish at +1 for the tournament.

Fanny had an impressive showing and had a chance to win with nine holes to play, Marron said.

Robyn Doig and Ashley Holder also put together top-20 finishes for the Knights. Both were 4-over for the tournament. Kaitlyn Price put together the best round of the day for UCF on Sunday. She scored a 1-under 70 and finished the tournament tied for 25th (+5). Monifa Sealy rounded out the UCF lineup. She was 13-over for the tournament and finished tied for 74th.

The Knights will be back in action again Oct. 8-9 when they travel to Seattle for the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
