ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's soccer team had a dominating performance Wednesday as the Knights breezed to a 2-0 victory over Stetson at the UCF Soccer Complex. Romario Williams and Alex Marotta scored for the Knights (2-2-2), who finished with an 11-2 shot advantage.

Williams gave UCF a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when his successful penalty kick beat Andreas Schnabl. The score was his third of the season. In the 73rd minute, Leon Carby executed a nice feed to Marotta, and the freshman tallied his first college goal when he raced past a pair of Stetson (1-4-1) defenders and fired a shot past Schnabl.

"I thought from start to finish, we played really well," UCF head coach Bryan Cunningham said. "I told the team that we managed that game. We came out here and executed. It is good to get a shutout and it is obviously good to score and have numerous opportunities."

The contest against the Hatters was the first of two this week at home for the Knights. On Saturday, at 7 p.m., UCF will make its American Athletic Conference debut, hosting No. 11 Louisville.

Williams and the Knights had ample scoring opportunities in the first half. UCF pounded out seven shots in the opening 45 minutes, with four coming on goal. Omar Vallejo had a pair of shots stopped by Schnabl and late in the half, Marotta found Steven Lamberta with a great feed in the box, but the senior's header was stopped by Stetson's keeper.

UCF played a pair of matches last weekend in Virginia and looked solid in its return to Orlando.

The Knights recorded six shots on goal, compared to one for the Hatters. Making his first home start, Zach Biggs stopped one shot for the Knights. UCF's backline was led by Lamberta, who played all 90 minutes.
